Saturday (9:00am - 5:00pm)
Kalapana Black Sand Beach
Frozen Fire and Waterfalls ( Picture Gallery )
Enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls contrasted to the dramatic scenery when lava meets the sea. This adventuresome trip is redesigned on each occasion depending on weather and the number of guests. It begins at the Golden Pond located in Keawe Iki. Where, if desired, a swim in the bay will take place that will definitely relax you and put a smile upon your face. Next stop will be Mahukona Beach. Mahukona is an abandoned harbor used long ago by a local sugar company. With its clear and calm water, it makes a great snorkeling and diving spot. If requested upon, you will snorkel here in this protected cove filled with a variety of fish who call it their home. You will then come to Lapakahi, a well preserved ancient Hawaiian fishing village. Then a scenic drive through Waimea, paniolo country, with a stop at Waipi’o Valleys lookout. Next you will take the old highway on the Hamakua coast and stop at the breathtaking waterfalls, Umauma Falls and Akaka Falls. Last stop will be Onome’a bay. The guide, the group size, location of lava and the weather will determine the exact route.. *The tour does do a store stop where you are able to pick up breakfast, lunch, snacks and liquids.

BRING: Covered footwear, swim wear, sunscreen, water, towel, light jacket and snorkeling gear if snorkeling is desired

* * The above tour description is a generalization of average activities, the actual tour may change in response to weather, seasons, daylight and guide preferances. There is so much to see within 20 miles of Hilo that content compensates for distance. No specific attractions are implied and no refunds will be given.

Reservations, to be confirmed must be guaranteed by credit card or advance payment. 48 hours notice of cancellation is required and you may be charged if an otherwise full seat is left empty because we turned others away.
