Events Policy:

Dear Prospective guests.

Arnotts Lodge has found it necessary to have a stated policy so that our staff does not become involved in debate with customers, about our price structure for upcoming events in Hilo.

Please read this thoroughly, all the way to the end, so there is no misunderstanding of what we are offering.........and, perhaps more importantly, what we are not able to offer.

While our Lodge has evolved over its sixteen years in business, to include all classes of accommodation, we have humble beginnings as a Backpacker and Budget Accommodation Lodge. We still have very reasonable prices, which, in all probability is why you are reading this.

Arnotts Lodge has always had its own unique clientele of Adventurers of all ages who want to see Lava Flows and visit our Mountains and see the unique beauty of our Island. For this reason we evolved a Tour division that caters to our guests by providing inexpensive tours.

Our very reasonable room prices are only possible because our guests take these tours. A couple staying in a $57 double room or a $70 deluxe room, will also pay us $60 each for a tour, bringing our total income for that room to around $190 a day.




Events rates are as follows:

Tenting, your tent, (self supported modern, no tarps) separate outside showers and toilet facilities. Rate $10 per head. RESERVED FOR BACKPACKERS, NOT AVAILABLE FOR EVENT PARTICIPANTS.

Dormitories are RESERVED FOR BACKPACKERS and cannot be booked in advance nor used by Event Participants. Our "Euro dorm" which contains 12 bunk beds can be booked by one group for $25 per bunk per night for the three night minimum. This is a total of $900 (25x12x3=900). There is one bathroom in this space, we also make available exterior showers and flush toilets used by tenters and backpackers. Linens and blankets are supplied but your group must bring its own towels.

Single/Double private bedroom with shared bathroom, kitchen and living room.
Rate $100 per night, three day package $300, extra person over two in room $25 per person.

Single/Double private bedroom with private bathroom. Community kitchen and lounge area.
Rate $150 per night, three day package $450, extra person over two in room $25 per person.

Suite. The shared bathroom rooms are actually the two bedrooms of a typical two bedroom apartment. If you are a family or friends you may get exclusive use of the whole apartment including kitchen and living room. One bedroom has two twin (single) beds, the other has one full size (double) bed. There is typically a couch or bed in the living room and we can add futons for extra people.
Rate $250 per night, three day package $750. Up to five people, each extra $25.

When people come to Hilo for events they want to book out all the less expensive rooms available. If we allow it to happen, this can have a devastating affect on our business. Also when a lot of people book for, lets say, a three day event, they block people that would have come before the event and stayed during, they also block out people who would have arrived during & stayed after, and they don't do our trips. For us a three day event can cost us over 50% of our average revenue for a normal week. And leave our guides without income.

For this reason we double & triple our room rates during events, for those that attend the event. We are not just taking advantage of event goer's, we have pressing economic reasons. You are probably reading this because you left your reservation too late at a major Hilo Hotel or they are sold out from last year, and have been referred to us in the terms "Oh, give Arnotts Lodge a try". Well, here we are, and this is our event policy. We are 100% faithful to our year round guests that support us in large numbers and we welcome you if you are willing to pay to displace them.

We require a 100% absolutely non refundable deposit at the time the reservation is made. Any card given as a guarantee that does not process will automatically cancel the reservation. We regret that this policy is necessary to prevent people booking at multiple Hotels on wait lists then canceling with us at the last minute. Should a request for cancellation due to misfortune be made, we will ATTEMPT to sell the space, but will only consider a refund up to the limit of what we receive. Weather, flights, natural and unnatural disasters are not excuses for cancellation as we could have sold the space to someone coming from another direction or country.

Please also note that our format is "No Frills". We do not change sheets or towels or make beds during your stay. If you need fresh linens or towels you are welcome to obtain them at the front desk in exchange for used ones.

Our Hotel is set up for adventure travelers who come to do our expeditions and see our wonderful Island, they like to sleep at a reasonable time for the next days activities. We do not allow late night partying by people returning from events.
