    Guest patio area

Meet other travelers or kick back on a couch out in the outdoor patio area with lots of chairs, tables and evening lamplight, that allows you to sit with other guests and chat, or sit privately to write home, read or catch up on postcards.

We have FREE WiFi in-room and FREE use of our fixed iPad during office hours.

There are emergency food, sodas, chips, snacks, candies, maps, guide books, postage stamps and souvenirs for sale at the front desk.

In our quest to bring ever better facilities for our guests, we have a fresh-grind coffee vending machine.  According to guests, this machine makes coffee as good as that produced on an espresso machine.

We have great adventure tours at discount prices for guests (Subject to 2 day minimum stay).  Inquire at our front desk.

A 55 inch Hi Def TV with cable is in the TV room and a 47 inch TV is on the patio for sports and news.

We have coin-op laundry facilities at $2 per wash and $2 to dry. Laundry Hours: 8:30am-9:00pm (last wash).

Nearby white and black sand beaches beckon on Hilo’s Adventure coastline.
We are lucky to be situated in a pleasant “out of city” environment with nice walks and turtle and seasonal whale viewing.  We are 300 yards from the only white sand beach on this side of the Island.

There is a convenience store within 15-20 minute walking distance.

Nearby restaurants are within 20-30 minutes walking distance.

BIKE RENTALS:

Rent our $10 a day “transport” bicycles and cruise into downtown or on the coastline.  This price is for guests lodging with us.

We have “cruiser” style bikes and some have 3 speed gears.  A $100 cash or credit card deposit is required for the rental of these bikes, which are intended for the flatter areas of Hilo to Downtown and the Mall.

All bikes come with a lock. None of our bikes are equipped for night use and are not allowed to be used after dark.

All bikes must be returned to their rack daily by sunset or you will be charged an extra day of rental.

As with all such rentals, it is your total responsibility to check out the bike thoroughly before using it: we accept no liability whatever for any accident or injury due to use of these bikes. Although we do our best to maintain them, we frequently have no opportunity to check them out between rentals. A $100 (or greater for special bikes) cash or credit card deposit will be “held” against return of the bike in good condition. Damages, bent wheels and other broken parts will be deducted from your deposit, up to the full amount. This is standard in all such “high risk” rentals. You are also responsible to return bikes to our Lodge; we have no ability to send vehicles to pick you up for punctures or damages.

If you wish to rent even higher performance bicycles equipment please contact Mid Pacific Wheels at 1133 Manono St. Hilo, Hawaii 96720; we use them for all our new equipment purchases and repairs. They are a full service Bike Shop, open 7 days and with an excellent repair facility. Their email is bike_rentals@midpacificwheels.com and their phone is 808-935-6211.

COUNTY BUS SERVICE (except Sunday and major holidays).

A hourly County $2 Bus service makes us even more accessible.
The County of Hawaii Transit Agency launched a new Monday thru Saturday Hele On bus service for Keaukaha.  No buses will run on Sundays and holidays.
For guests wanting to take the bus into town, they operate every hour from 7:00 in the morning and every hour from 1:35 in the afternoon until 4:40pm to the Mooheau Bus Terminal. If you wish to catch the bus to the Prince Kuhio Plaza, University of Hawaii or the Hilo Shopping Center, you will need to catch the 3:35pm or earlier bus. You can wait on the highway by Arnott’s and flag down the bus which varies in size and color but has KEAUKAHA on the sign board.  The County of Hawaii Mass Transit offers this Two Dollar, island wide bus service on all scheduled routes, however some routes do not run on weekends. Check here for more information… http://heleonbus.org/

Please note that The County of Hawaii Transit Agency has recently added a stop at the Hilo Airport to their Keaukaha bus route. This is, conveniently, the same bus that runs past our lodge. Check the Hele On website for schedules, and look for the Intra-Hilo Keaukaha schedule!
